Event Cancellation

What is it?

Hosts and co-hosts can cancel events if plans change. Once an event is cancelled, it’s permanent — you can’t undo it.

Who can cancel?

  • ✅ Host (the person who created the event)
  • ✅ Co-hosts
  • ❌ Regular attendees

How to cancel

  1. Open the event page
  2. Tap Cancel Event in the menu
  3. (Optional) Add a reason
  4. For recurring events, choose: just this one or all future events
  5. Confirm

What happens next?

  • The event is marked as CANCELLED
  • RSVPs are updated
  • Notifications go out to people who were attending or waitlisted

(Note: People who already declined won’t be notified.)

Recurring events

  • Cancel one → Only that event is cancelled
  • Cancel all → The whole series stops (only the original host can do this)

Things to keep in mind

  • ❌ You can’t “uncancel” an event. Create a new one if needed.
  • 📅 Calendar entries won’t be removed automatically.
  • 📝 Cancelled events can’t be reviewed.

Best practices

  • Cancel early and explain why
  • Avoid last-minute cancellations if possible
  • If rescheduling, mention it in the reason
